Another scorching weekend as we enter the second half of the league season.
There were mixed results on Saturday. The 1s lost to South Hampstead, after making 238 (James Harris 81, Oli Bradbury 43), which they chased comfortably. The 2s though got a solid win, also against South Hampstead, bowling them out for 116 (Sai Bhatia 6-22) and, after a wobble, getting them for 5.
The 3s lost after making 218-6 (Matt Harrison 51, James Marsh 53) but Bessborough got them with time and wickets to spare. The 4s stay top after beating Brentham. We batted first and posted 231-5 (Callum Whiteside 51*, Haseeb Shahid 45, Charlie Entwistle 42 and Sam Fernando 42) and bowled them out for 93 with wickets shared around.
The 5s stay bottom after a brave fight against Twickenham. The made a big 292-6 but we fought to a losing draw with 249-7. Alex Tilleray made 43 (including 26 off one over) and Steve Brookes 57*. The 6s unfortunately had to concede.
On Sunday, the youngest ever MDL drew with Hampton Hill and proceed in the tournament after finishing top of the table. We made 193-8, Vansh Malik leading the way with 50, and they finished on 160-7. Meanwhile, the friendly side beat Viscount, making 122 and bowling them out for 102, with four wickets for Barnaby Whitehead.
On Thursday the T20 side maintained its 100% record and stays top of the table. We made 139 and bowled out Brentham for 100, Saqlain Shaikh taking 4-11.
In the juniors, on Monday the U13s lost to Ealing, Josh Barrett taking 4 wickets. The U10s lost on Tuesday to complete their schedule – thanks to Karl Sylvester for running that side this year. On Thursday the U15s beat Actonians, chasing down 139 thanks to Miles Dyson’s 50 off 31 balls.
Our Chiswick House fundraiser has passed £3,000 – thanks to everyone who has donated. But we are still short of our target – so if you haven’t yet, please throw some money our way, to help improve the deck at one of the most beautiful grounds in London.
