A weekend of lovely weather, with a Saturday of what-might-have-beens.
As we move into timed games, where the side bowling second have to bowl out the other team to win, the 1s narrowly missed out. We posted a very decent 259-7, largely thanks to Tom Flavell’s first ton for the club: he made 128*, supported by Rav Sehmi’s 51. We had them 188-8 at the end, but couldn’t quite force the win – but take 5 points for a winning draw and sit second in the table.
The 2s narrowly lost to West Harrow. We bowled them out for 132 (David Boothroyd and Bhavic Thukrel both taking 5) but despite Perry Pearce’s 40* we fell 14 short.
The 3s convincingly beat Kenton. Our 248-8 was based around Nick Hewetson’s 97, with Matthew Harrison contributing 42. We bowled them out for 122 (Tim Benson 4-61) and are top of the division.
The 4s lost their 100% record in a tight defeat to Trailfinders. They made 200 (Nouman Tahir 4 wickets) and despite runs for Dino Antoniades (52) and Nouman (44) we were all out for 177. This leaves the 4s second in their table.
The 5s lost a narrow one against Brentham. We made 148-9 (Runi Talwar 43) but, despite heroic bowling by Will Clarke (6-65 in 17 straight overs) they got home with 2 wickets to spare.
On Sunday the women lost to a strong Eastcote side at HQ while the away men’s team lost at Crossbats.
It was a tough week for the juniors, but some impressive individual performances included Miles Dyson’s 71* for the U15s, and a great U19 team performance saw them fall just 8 short of beating London Tigers on Friday evening.
Have a good week
