Chairman's Report 25 May

Chairman's Report 25 May

Bernard Hughes25 May - 19:27

The weather held off - and gave us a full weekend of cricket

The greatest success of the weekend was getting a full programme of matches in, after a dodgy forecast all week.

The 1s lost away to Friends United, despite Simon Moss’s fighting 41. The 2s are top after their third win from three. We bowled out Highgate for 148 and chased down for 2, with 15 overs to spare, thanks to Zach Fry’s unbeaten 82.

The 3s bounced back with a gritty win over Twickenham. They made 129 and we got home with 3 wickets in hand – but it was a tight finish. The 4s are top after their third win in a row. We bowled out Twickenham 4s for 109 (Jim Yorath 4-19) and chased it down comfortably, with 41 for the in-form Nouman Tahir.

The 5s lost to Hounslow and Whitton, but it was not a league game, as this was their bye week. The 6s lost away to Brentham 5s.

So three wins from six, and two teams still with 100% records. Let’s keep that going!

On Sunday, the women couldn’t match their thrilling win from last week, losing away at North London – but a good game and very respectable performance. Meanwhile at HQ Zach Fry made more runs – 84 – against Larkhall Wanderers (and Jack Stansfield made 43) as we compiled 217-8 dec in 40. We got 9 of them out, but couldn’t quite press the win home. Match drawn.

In the juniors, the U9s continue their brilliant run, beating Ealing, which is always good. The U13s lost a very tight game, by just four runs, to Perivale.

In the juniors, the U10s lost to Ealing, but it was great to get that side out for the first time this year. The U11s put up a really good chase, also against Ealing, but lost narrowly in an impressive performance. The U9s continued their unbeaten run this year with victory over Trailfinders. Congratulations to Karl and the team.

This is the last week of the early bird rate for annual subs. We currently have only 49 paid-up members, which does not reflect the number of people playing for the club. Thanks to those who are in those 49 – and if you’re not, please do something about it. It isn’t fair that some people have paid while others havent’. Please pay up at https://www.chiswickcricketclubdragons.com/payments/senior-membership-2025-earlybird-before-may-31-130990.html.

Have a good week everyone
Bernard
