A mixed week...

I will start with a fixture I accidentally missed out on last week. Last Sunday our U13 Girls played their first ever competitive hard ball game. The players involved have come such a long way in such a short time: congratulations to them, and to Michelle their coach. We lost to a much more experienced Shepherds Bush side but it was a good game and our players did a great job, best performances by Ana Stimpson and Sophie Chahel.

Not such a good day for the senior men on Saturday. The 1s lost to London Tigers, and the 2s narrowly to Wembley. The 3s maintain the only 100% record in the club and stay top of the table with a comfortable win against Richmond, Karthik Shivaram taking 4 wickets.

The 4s made it two wins from three with a big win over Twickenham, but there were defeats for the 5s against a decent Barnes and the 6s against Ealing.

On Sunday the women lost to a well-drilled Ickenham, despite an impressive 32 from 40 balls by Geethika Jyothis. The senior men lost their cup game to South Hampstead and the friendly away side at Binfield threw away a winning position with some run-outs to lose by 9 runs.

The juniors in the week really suffered from the bad weather. On Monday the U9s lost to Shepherds Bush, but the U12 Girls, U11 and U15s were all abandoned. On Friday the U17s lost out to Hampton Hill, despite 44* by Miles Dyson.

Today is the last week to get annual subs at the reduced rate – from 1 June the rate goes up to £190. Please go to Pitchero now and get it done – https://www.chiswickcricketclubdragons.com/payments/senior-membership-2024-earlybird-before-may-31-110619.html - and if you have any financial issues please get in touch with me confidentially. Except for cases of financial hardship you need to be a paid-up member in order to qualify for selection.

Can I also repeat my appeal for match sponsors? You can be sponsor a match of your choice for the bargain price of £50 – this could be an individual, a group of people, a family, company whatever. If you would be able to sponsor a game and help boost the club please contact Rob Fernandes on robfernandes76@googlemail.com.

Have a good week and let’s look to bounce back next weekend.
