Back to action after last week’s rain.
The 1s thrashed Friends United to stay fourth in the table. We bowled them out for 48 with skipper Leith Cowie taking 6-26, and we got them for 1. The 2s lost a close one to Highgate, keeping them to 158 (Tush Nath a triumphant temporary return with 6-46), but we fell 17 runs short in the chase.
The 3s also lost. We made 97 on a Twickenham minefield and they got them for 3. Our 4s beat Twickenham 4s though, chasing down their 163, with a brilliant 7th wicket stand that dug us out of trouble, between Max Absolom (51*) and Joey Walker (49*). The 4s are now 14 points clear at the top of Div 5B.
Sadly the 5s are at the other end of the table, with a bye week this week – they lost their friendly against Peppard Stoke Row, which sounds like a meal more than a cricket club. The 6s narrowly missed out on a win again, making 126 against Brentham 5s at Chiswick House (Frank Brazell 47) and they got them for 8.
On Sunday we lost the cup quarter-final to Kenton at HQ. We posted a decent 256 in our 45 (Tom Flavell 95, Eddie Sykes 41, Matt Long 63) but they got them with 3 overs to spare.
The women lost narrowly away at Stoke Newington, having moved their start time to earlier to be able to watch THE LIONESSES WIN THE EUROS. They made 89 for 9 in their 20 (Amber Forth 3 wickets) and we got close, finishing on 71 for 7. A good effort all round and a decent debut for Bea Husband.
The Sunday friendly side lost in scenic West Byfleet. Our 135 was dominated by a good 75 for Nouman Tahir, but they hunted them down comfortably.
On Thursday, the T20 game was abandoned because of rain, as was the final U11 game of the season. The T20 team finish second in the table and progress to finals day in August.
Good luck to the tourists heading to Devon this week – have fun everyone.
And lastly, we send best wishes to club President Carl Bryce who has been unwell – but he’s out of hospital now and we wish him a speedy recovery.
