A delayed weekly round-up

Sorry for the report being a day late – I’ve been in Belgium this weekend eating waffles and frites.

We saw off the threatening weather – and the loss of two Actonians pitches – to fulfil our annual quadruple-header against Actonians on Saturday. Sadly the score was 3-1 to them – but we were somewhat depleted by the deployment sent to Perry Pearce’s wedding. Congratulations Perry, and well done for getting it done on a non-league Saturday!

The 1s won, bowling Actonians out for 130 and getting them for 3 – Anurag Zende with the first of what I expect will be plenty of 50s this year. 2s, 3s and 4s all lost, but Ollie Gilmour took 4 wickets for the 3s.

Sunday’s game was rained off, as were the U13 girls today. During the week, the U9s and U10s both lost to Ealing, but the U11s came agonisingly close, losing to Brentham by 1 run, despite a heroic 71* by Billy Yorath. Batted Billy. The U13s won by default on Thursday.

We have a full schedule of junior games this week – and Saturday sees our first league weekend, including the 6s league debut – against the 5s. Please get your availabilities in as soon as you can and let’s hit the ground running. Because of 5s v 6s we can’t do a Green Sweep this Saturday – but your Chairman has pledged to stand a Chairman’s Round at the club if we achieve a 6-win Saturday this year.

We’ve got a good number of people signed up to the Fantasy Cricket game – which starts giving points away next Saturday. It adds a real spice to Saturdays: go on, enter a team! Please go to https://chiswick.fantasyclubcricket.co.uk/ (and pay at the Pitchero site).

Have a good week
Bernard
