Results and performances from a busy week at the club

Our bid for five wins out of five still eludes us – but we were only 5 runs away from it on Saturday. There were three close, exciting games on a day of warm weather.

The 1s and 2s were both up against Wycombe House, top of the table in both leagues, and we came away with two wins, which is fantastic.

The 1s was a nailbiter. We made 171 (Delon Chietan 56), including a crucial stand of 32 for the last wicket between Will Whitehead and Matt Tomes-Smith. We needed nearly all of them, bowling WH out for 167, having had them 117-8 ourselves. Congratulations to Rav and the team for a terrific and much deserved win.

The 2s were much more comfortable in the end, but they had to fight back from 129-8. Leith Cowie (46) helped us to a 225 all out, and we then knocked them over for 100, Leith completing a great day for him with 5-29.

The 3s were the only side who just missed out. We were chasing 232 (Anthony Millest 4 wickets) and fell just short, losing our last wicket at 228, with 2 overs left. Glayson Baptiste made 63 and Michael Whyard 56.

The 4s go joint top after beating West Harrow. We posted 220 (Jack Stansfield 57, Runi Talwar 46 and Yash Kumar 45) and saw them off for 157, Ben Hurtig-Isaac taking another 4 wickets to add to his impressive haul for the season. The win was marred by a serious finger injury for skipper Jack Stansfield – so we send him our best wishes.

The 5s also won. Our 162 was built around junior Henry Husband’s debut senior 50. We then had them 54-8 from which they got to within 8 runs, before captain Dave Phillips captured the 4th of his wickets, caught by Ollie Gilmour, for a good win.

Well done to everyone who played for a terrific set of results – even if the 5/5 remains just out of reach.

On Sunday, the MDL team lost to Twickenham. Our 159 was based around Johaan Anaokar-Sorensen’s 40 but turned out not to be enough.

In other games this week, the Ladies side showed their rapid progress, beating Shepherds Bush in an exciting game on Tuesday, with Leonora Yorath making 40* and Rachel Hughes 22*. The next generation of women cricketers, the U11s lost to Shepherds Bush on Friday but are also getting good fast, and playing with terrific spirit.

On Thursday the first West London Whack game saw a narrow loss to Old Isleworthians by 7 runs, Angad Ajgaonkar leading the way with 76. On Friday night the U19s lost to Hampton Hill.

Thanks to everyone who represented the club in any games in the last seven days. Have a good week and stay cool.
