Results from a warm week in Chiswick

Bit of a warm one, no?

On Saturday, the 1s beat the top of the league for the second week in a row (last week’s win against Wycombe House having put Kenton top). We made 143 – again the tail wagged – and then the bowlers did their work, bowling them out for 80.

The 2s also won, although it was a tight one, putting them fourth and only 3 points off second place. We made 189 and bowled out South Hampstead for 184, Tim Benson leading the way with a brilliant 5-29.

The 3s lost despite posting 233 – Swaps Anaokar making 84 and Ben Lumm 71. Indian Gymkhana chased it down for 2 wickets.

The 4s won easily, taking them top of the table for the first time this year. We bowled Ealing Trailfinders out for 128 and we got them for 5, Karthik Shivaram having a double-jug day, with 5 wickets and 50 in the chase.

The 5s got the only draw of the day, against Wycombe House. They made a strong 268 on a very fast outfield and although we were in the hunt for a while (76 for the Chairman), we ended up batting out for the draw. This keeps up 5th and means that as of this week all 5 XIs are in the top half of their tables – now we need to push for promotion in the last third of the season.

Today the MDL team lost at HQ, 68 to Eddie Sykes. The friendly side lost to Perivale Phoenicians.

On Thursday the T20 team lost with 2 balls to spare, Zach Fry making 58 off 38 balls. Zach now has 511 runs at 46.45 and could be on for the first 1,000 season since Glayson Baptiste in 2017.

This week we have a T20 game on Thursday, the full five league fixtures on Saturday, MDL and a friendly at Prestcold on Sunday. Please get your availabilities in ahead of selection on Tuesday, thanks.

Please stay cool and hydrated over the next couple of days – and lets look forward to more wins next weekend.

Thanks
Bernard
