Results and performances from this week

It was a numerically mixed Saturday, with wins for the even numbered teams and losses for the odds.

The 1s ended a great run with defeat to London Tigers. Our 138 just wasn’t enough, but was thanks to Jordan Cahir’s 49* that we got that many. They got them comfortably.

The 2s beat a struggling Headstone Manor. We posted 263-4 declared, Simon Moss making 77*, supported by Angad Agaonkar’s 66. We bowled them out for 166 with wickets shared around.

The 3s came close but no cigar. We were chasing Old Isleworthian’s 192 but fell short, finishing on 171. There were 4 wickets apiece for Anthony Millest and Sai Bhatia.

The 4s recorded a good win, to go 10 points clear at the top of their table. We bowled out MTSSC for 177 with three bowlers taking 3 wickets and Henry Husband taking 3 catches. We got in trouble early on but paced the chase well, getting home with 3 wickets and 7 balls to spare, Chairman Bernard Hughes holding the innings together with 74.

The 5s should have won but were undone at the end, our second close game of the season against SKLPC. We made 134, which didn’t look enough, but we had them 80-8 in reply – but their no.8 got 50 to see them home. Ollie Gilmour continuing his great season with 4 more wickets.

On Sunday the MDL side got a brilliant win thanks to a last wicket stand of 46 between Harsh Patel and Harry Hurtig-Isaac (41*) – Zach Fry also scored 46. The friendly side lost at Prestcold despite the valiant combined efforts of the Husband family. I don’t normally note this kind of score, but must compliment Cliff Sykes on his 0*.

In the week, the T20 team won on Thursday against Actonians. There were 50s for Rav Sehmi and Anurag Zende and our 173 proved to be comfortably enough. The U19s lost on Friday evening.

Please get your availabilities in for selection next week, as we reach final third of the season – the business end. The T20 has been rearranged for this Tuesday 26 (not Thursday 28). The fixture has been amended in Play-Cricket, but can take up to 24 hours to update. On this occasion, please could people contact David Boothroyd directly about their availability for Tuesday on Boothroyd03@hotmail.com.

Have a good week everyone.

Thanks
Bernard
